C2E Sports Academy Stage Stunning Comeback to Seal First Governor Diri Tournament Win

By Franklin Nnaemeka – October 5, 2026

C2E Sports Academy produced a remarkable display of character and resilience on Monday, fighting back from a difficult start to secure a thrilling 3–2 victory over Imo Striker Queens in the Governor Diri Women’s Pre-Season Tournament.

The victory comes just days after C2E suffered a 3–0 defeat to WAFU-B champions Edo Queens, making the response even more impressive.

Against Imo Striker Queens, however, the girls showed a completely different mentality.

After falling behind, the team refused to panic and battled their way back into the contest in what became a thrilling, end-to-end encounter.

Agnes Ohuche opened the scoring for C2E in the 17th minute, but Imo Striker Queens responded through Alex in the 31st minute before Mmesoma put the opponents ahead in the 35th minute.

C2E came out with renewed determination in the second half. Agnes Ohuche completed her brace in the 63rd minute, connecting with a superb Emmanuel Rose free-kick assist to bring C2E level.

Just three minutes later, Iheche Ukamaka completed the turnaround in the 66th minute, sending C2E into a 3–2 lead.

But the job was far from finished with Imo Striker Queens pushing hard for an equaliser, Ukpai Chidiogo stood tall between the posts, producing a series of heroic saves, including a crucial stop in the dying minutes of the game to preserve C2E’s lead.

Her outstanding performance proved decisive as C2E held on to claim their first victory of the Governor Diri Women’s Pre-Season Tournament.

From trailing behind to fighting back and defending their lead until the final whistle, C2E Sports Academy showed character, resilience and belief.
